Materials:
5-3/8 yards terrycloth
5-3/8 yards cotton-backed satin
7-1/2 yards cording for piping
Enough additional satin (same color or contrasting) cut on bias to make 7-1/2 yards piping and eight pocket pieces
Thread
Reinforcement tape (at least 24") - Construct satin side of reversible robe according to standard shawl-collar robe pattern instructions.
- Sew front to back at shoulders.
- Stitch center back collar seams.
- Stitch underside of collar to back collar.
- Pin pockets at marks on satin front and back.
- Sew pocket sections to front and back of robe.
Expert tip: After you've sewn a pocket section to the robe body, it's a good idea to open it out and understitch on the pocket side (figure A). This will help prevent the pocket from rolling outward when the robe is finished.
