For more than 13 years, Barbara Hirschensohn has been creating lifelike miniature rooms that allow her to be creative with little expense. Many of her rooms consist of pieces that are made entirely from scratch -- down to the smallest minutiae. Miniatures, she says, give hobbyists an unconventional way to work with paint, fabric, metal and wood. Hirschensohn says hobby stores, although often bountiful sources of information, still can't compare with the knowledge that's shared within clubs.
