Customizable Pyramid SpeakersProject designed by Syuzi Pakhchyan. Materials: 12" x 12" rag board square Ferrite Speakers 2.6 x 0.9 3 watt or higher 12-16" of 22 AWG Stranded 4 Conductor Wire audio plug soldering station rosin core solder needle fishing line or thick thread wire stripper wire cutter craft knife cutting mat scoring tool (optional) material to cover speaker 1 nickel-plated brass sew-on snap glue masking tape template black marker - To build the form, tape the template to a rag board. Cut out the template using a craft knife along the solid black lines. Gently score the template along the dashed lines. Turn the template over. Using the scoring tool gently score the backside.
- To wire the speakers, remove 5" of the shield covering the individual wires. Strip 1/4" off of each wire. After stripping each wire, gently twist the frayed strands of wire tightly together.
- Remove 1" of the cover shield from the bottom end of the wires. Strip 1/4" off of the bottom end of each wire. After stripping each wire, gently twist the frayed strands of wire tightly together.
- Loop the top stripped wire ends around the positive and negative terminals of each speaker. Twist the wire to make a tight connection.
- Using a black marker, mark the bottom end of the negative wires. This will prevent you from confusing the negative and positive wires later on in the process.
- To solder the primer, touch the tip of the soldering iron to the terminal and wire connection for about one second before adding solder. This allows the surface to become hot in order for the solder to flow smoothly.
- Add a small amount of solder. Allow the solder to flow smoothly over the connection. A proper solder joint is shiny, not dull and pitted.
- Unscrew the plastic housing of the audio plug. Slip the plastic housing over the shielded wires before soldering the stripped wire ends to the audio plug.
- Twist the stripped end of the two negative wires together (the ones marked wit the black marker). Loop the stripped end of the wires around the middle terminal of the plug. Solder the wires to the terminal.
- Solder each of the positive wires to the left and right terminals of the plug.
- Screw the plastic housing back onto the plug.
- To attach the speakers to the form you will use a needle and thread. Pull the wires and audio plug through the opening in the back of the form.
- Glue the tables of the form together preferably use a clamp to hold the glue joint tight.
- Skin and customize the speakers to your preference.
