Materials: 1 oz. of each essential oil Eye droppers Dark colored bottles 6 to 8 fragrance strips Small plates or petrie dishes - Choose what type of essential oil you would like to work with. For example:
- Revitalizing/energy increaser
- Relaxing/calming
- Sensual
- Decide which fragrances to use for a base.
Hint: Let's say you choose a revitalizing blend, you can use lemon for a base or for relaxing you can use lavender for a base. The sensual blend contains 4 essential oils -- Ylang, Sandalwood, Jasmine and Frankincense. Relaxing contains 2 (lavender and chamomile) and revitalizing contains 2 (lemon, eucalyptus). - Choose how much of each oil to use. Depending on what type of aromatherapy effect you are going for will help you decide how much of each oil you will use. The strength of the oils will also be a deciding factor.
Hint: Use a small eyedropper for testing before you start. If you mix small amounts with the eyedropper it will save you money in mistakes because good, high quality essential oils can be very costly. - Mix the oils.
Hint: When you are first starting out, it is wise to begin mixing only two or three oils at one time. If you are not experienced, you may end up with oils that do not mix harmoniously. As you gain more experience with mixing oils, you can decide what fragrances appeal to you most, adding additional oils if you desire. - After you have the scent you like, see step 11 of Candle Making. This is where you add your fragrance to the hot wax that will soon become your candle!
Safety Tip: If you are pregnant, nursing or epileptic please consult your physician before working with any essential oil! Products: Available at Jenni Originals -- see Guest info, below.
