    Light up your décor with these charming tea light sconces.
    Upgrading a ceiling fan is a great way to perk up a hum-drum room—but don't toss out that old fan. Instead, B. Original with the parts and create custom tea light sconces from old fan blades.

    Michele Beschen's easy how-to uses fan blades, a touch of paint and some 18-gauge wire to create charming custom sconces. This project is a great way to B. Original with odds and ends while adding beauty and romance to your décor. Scroll down to learn how.

    Fan Blade Sconces

    Materials:

    ceiling fan blades
    18-gauge wire
    pliers
    tea lights
    hanging hardware

    • Remove the metal collar from the end of the fan blade (figure A).

    • Paint the blade.

    • Lace 18-gauge wire through the screw holes left by the metal collar (figure B). Tie and twist this wire off at the back of the blade.

    • Coil more 18-gauge wire to create a tiny shelf that can hang from the wire on the fan blade. Attach the coiled shelf to the blade and add a tea light (figure C).

    • Make sure the coiled shelf is secure and the tea light won't shift around. Then hang and enjoy your new custom sconces!
