    Tie Halter

This project will take you approximately three to four hours to complete.

    1. Cut out the three pattern pieces out of the fabric and select a tie. Make sure that you cut two strap pieces.

    2. Mark darts on the front bodice with tracing paper according to the pattern.

    3. Match up the dart lines right sides together and pin the darts (figure A). Sew a straight stitch down the diagonal mark to create the dart and then press flat.

    4. Serge the top and side edges of the front bodice.

    5. Pin and sew the tie along the tie's edges (figure B).

Note: Make sure you follow the curve of the darts when sewing the tie.

    6. Cut the tie in half, on each end removing 1" of interfacing, and then sew a set of D-rings on each tie piece (figure C).

    7. With the right sides together, sew the two back pieces together down the center back seam to form the back bodice and press seam open.

    8. Serge the top and side edges of the back bodice.

    9. Stitch elastic across the upper part of back bodice approximately 1/4" from the edge. Use as much elastic as needed (figure D) and cut excess away.

    10. Fold fabric over elastic 5/8" and stitch in place to complete the back bodice.

    11. With the right sides together, pin and stitch the front and back bodice along the side seams at a 5/8" seam allowance.

    12. Fold one of the strap pieces of fabric in half lengthwise right sides together and then press and pin. Then sew two sides leaving the third to turn the strap right side out. Fold the open end in and topstitch closed. Repeat this process and make the other strap.

    13. Stitch the straps to the back bodice 1" from the center back seam on both sides. Connect each D-ring set to the straps.

    14. Finish the bottom hemline with a serger or fold under and topstitch a hem.
