Weve all heard of covering plants to protect them from a hard freeze, whether we drape them with a tarp or barricade them inside a hard-shell cloche. Michele Beschen takes the cloche idea a step further, covering plants with glass even during the heat of summer. Scroll down for the B. Original hosts take on a garden cloche as outdoor art.
Glass Garden ClocheMichele Beschen isnt afraid to decorate with glass in the gardenfrom glass-bottle borders to stained-glass toadstools, she enjoys the sparkle and color glass adds to her outdoor décor. Now, Michele Beschen is adding clear glass to her current plantings. Her inspiration: Cover a few outdoor plants with glass shades or hurricane lamps (figure A). As the plants grow, the glass will fit more snugly and resemble a protective sleeve (figure B).
You can follow Michele Beschens lead and jazz up your shades and hurricane lamps with glass paint to add some color. Place a few throughout the garden for a classy, glassy touch.
