You could be sitting pretty in this copper mission-style chair.
Copper pipe can be beautiful—and functional—without ever coming near running water. Metal artist Dan Johnson uses the same soldering techniques and clean design that distinguish his copper pipe sprinklers when he builds beautiful, mission-style copper furniture.

Scroll down for some of Dan's tips on how to B. Original with copper furniture.

Building furniture out of copper pipe is a lot like building with Tinker Toys – you use straight pieces and connectors to ge the desired shape. But, unlike the beloved children's building toy, copper pipe is strong, beautiful and a natural for mission-style furniture.

Here are some tips from metal artist Dan Johnson for anyone interested in their own copper pipe furniture:

    • Start with a simple piece, like an end table, before you move on to something larger like a chair or couch.

    • Use 3/4" pipe for furniture.

    • Experiment with different shapes and map out your designs on paper. It's easy to figure out your measurements and fitting needs when you have a clear diagram to go by.
