    Project by Heather Kleinschmidt.

Heather Kleinschmidt shows how to turn an ordinary stamped image into a three-dimensional accent for your pages. She uses one stamp, such as the wedding cake, to create a multi-layered look. Rather than spending the money to buy several dimensional items, you can make multiples if you have the stamp. You can also use that same stamp to create the background paper or other items for your page.

    Materials:

Stamps by Heather and Judith wedding cake stamp
Stamps by Heather and Judith wedding bells stamp
Stamps by Heather and Judith tall scrapbook note stamp
    fine-line black pen
    assorted watercolor markers
    light blue ribbon
    blue, white, cream card stock
    double-stick foam tape

    Figure B
    1. Stamp the wedding cake on white card stock four times. Getting as close to the edge of the cake as possible, cut out four pieces as follows (figure A): one entire cake with wedding couple attached to the top, a second cake without the wedding couple only, a third cake without the top layer including the wedding couple, and a fourth cake--this time just the bottom layer of the cake.

    2. Color the parts of the cake with the watercolor markers (see again figure A). Use a black marker to color the edges of all the cakes so the sides will look finished and not raw.

    3. Assemble the cake, starting with the layer that would be the furthest back; in this case, it is the full image of the cake with the wedding couple on top (figure B).

    4. Add foam tape to the next layer (the one without the wedding couple) and adhere to the one above. Repeat this process with each layer of the cake until you have an assembled three-dimensional piece.

This same process was used to create the three-dimensional wedding bells as well.
