Make sure the tips of all the flowers and leaves are glued down. Use a small paintbrush to apply decoupage medium (Mod Podge.) to glue them down before sealing.

Carole Jackman of Nature's PressedB. demonstrates how to press flowers to preserve their beauty. Carole explains how to take the flowers a step further by incorporating them in a special memory-book page. She also describes how several images can be combined to preserves memories in an even more elegant form.

    Materials:
    PaperbilitiesB. memory album
Loose EndsB. natural paper or paper of your choice to cover the album
    Elmer'sB. rubber cement
    Pressed flowers by Nature's Pressed
    Flat, round tweezers
    All-purpose glue
    Small paintbrush
Blair Spray Clear Acrylic CoatingB. or Mod PodgeB.
Optional: 1 1/2 yards ribbon of your choice to complement album and flowers

    1. Unscrew album and set screws aside.

    2. Remove inside papers and set aside.

    3. Using rubber cement, apply natural paper to the outside cover of the album.

    4. Select pressed flowers, and use tweezers to arrange them on the album cover as desired. Remove flowers from album.

    5. Apply glue to the backs of flowers (use tiny dots in several places--not too much), starting with the greenery, and apply to the album as arranged in step 4. Use a paintbrush to apply extra glue under all the flowers' edges to tack them down flat. Allow the glue to dry completely (figure A).

    6. Apply Mod Podge or a clear acrylic sealer to the entire album cover.

    7. Replace the inside paper, cover and screws.

    8. Tie a ribbon in a bow, and glue to the outside of the album (figure B).

    Tips:

    • Use tweezers to handle the flowers while arranging, placing and gluing.

    • Be sure to apply glue to all the edges of the flowers with the paintbrush to keep them from coming up when the sealer is applied.

    • If the flowers or leaves break apart, they can be glued back together by pushing them together with tweezers or a paintbrush. Avoid using your fingers, as they'll tend to stick to the glue and then to the flowers.
