Here's a close-up of the base of this unusual vase that was converted with natural materials.

    Materials (figure A):

Vase (one that you'd like to transform -- a vase with square base was used for this particular project; a coffee can is an option)
    Glue gun
Cinnamon sticks (cut to 4-1/2" to 5")
Raffia (enough to tie around the base of the vase you chose)
    Scissors
Small dried flowers (your choice -- for decoration only)

    1. Take one cinnamon stick at a time and hot-glue to the side of the vase (figure B).

    2. As you glue and align each cinnamon stick to the base of the vase, be sure they line up evenly at the bottom.

Note: Once you've glued the cinnamon sticks around the entire surface of the vase, check for any holes between the sticks. If you can see the surface of the vase/pot, go ahead and glue another stick in between. This also gives the vase a more rugged, layered look.

    3. Twist the raffia until it resembles a rope, then tie around the vase in a bow.

    4. Top off the decorative vase by gluing dried flowers on it.

Tip: Following the steps above, you can use your imagination to transform that old pot that hasn't been used in ages. You can convert terra-cotta pots, for example.

Products: All materials can be found at fabric and floral stores.
