The Atlanta Community Food Bank distributes one million pounds of donated food each month to over 750 nonprofit partner agencies, spread out over 38 counties in the Atlanta area and North Georgia. The food comes from food manufacturers, wholesalers, farmer’s markets, caterers, and local food drives. Executive director Bill Bolling started the ACFB in 1979 out of the back of a pickup truck. Today it operates out of three warehouses and has handled over 230 million pounds of donations over the past twenty-five years....

- Community Garden Coordinator Fred Conrad plays a key role in helping these local gardens get up and running. Much of his workday is spent with volunteer crews, clearing land, weeding beds, or planting and pulling crops to help the garden’s organizers on an as-needed basis.
