    Figure C

Rae Seifert, manager of product design and promotion for The Beadery Craft Products, tells how to inexpensively decorate a pair of sunglasses with a beaded elastic cord to fit around a child's neck.

    Materials:

    Star pony beads
    3 mm beads
    1/32" elastic cord, 12" to 18" long
    Clear craft glue
    Child's plastic sunglasses

    1. Make a loop in one end of the elastic cord to slip over the ear piece of the sunglasses. Knot the end to keep the loop secure.

    2. String three star pony beads onto the elastic cord, followed by three 3 mm beads and another three star pony beads (figure A). Add 50 more 3mm beads for the center of the cord. Repeat the design with star beads at the other end of the cord (figure B).

    3. Knot the other end of the cord in a loop, and secure both knots with rubber cement.

    4. Slide the loops onto the sunglasses.

    Pencil Toppers

String beads onto pipe cleaners, twist them into interesting shapes such as spirals or circles, and wrap them onto the end of pencils (figure C).
