Jenik Cook prefers abstract painting -- in which the essence of what she sees is captured.

Jenik Cook says painting allows her creative spirit to flow through her and be freely expressed on canvas. Cook sees the canvas as full of light and envisions colors coming forth as she paints.

Cook teaches art, but she says it is only a beginning for those who are in search of themselves. A beginner, Cook says, can get started with only a few brushes, some canvas and some paint, but a class can be most helpful in learning techniques, color theory and appreciation of different styles of art.
