Designer Judith Kleinschmidt makes her borders blossom with this creative stamping technique. Materials: Spring-themed stamps in a variety of sizes and motifs Assorted ink colors Paper or cardstock (the same width as scrapbook page) - Hand-tear the paper or cardstock in an irregular shape to create a border mask 1-3" wide.
- Place the torn paper at the bottom third of the scrapbook page, at least 2 " from the bottom edge.
- Begin stamping over the ragged edge (figure A). Place stamp so that half is on the torn paper and half is on the scrapbook page (this will create a clean line with a border in the same shape as the torn paper edge).
- Continue stamping, re-aligning the torn paper mask as needed. To produce visual variety, apply different pressure when using the same stamp over different areas of the border. Vary the colors and alternate stamp motifs across the page (figure B).
- When finished, remove torn paper mask to reveal the border. Add journaling in the space underneath the border at the bottom of the page.
